This Privacy Policy describes how Calorie Counter Fitness ("the app", "we", "our") handles information when you use the app. We respect your privacy and aim to keep data collection to the minimum needed for the app to function.
The app stores the following information locally on your device:
All of this information is stored on your device. We do not maintain user accounts, and we do not transmit this information to our servers.
If you grant the app permission, it may read workout, active energy, and step count data from Apple HealthKit to assist with workout logging. This data remains on your device and is used only within the app. The app does not write data back to HealthKit in the current version.
You can revoke HealthKit permissions at any time through the iOS Settings app under Privacy & Security > Health > Calorie Counter Fitness.
If you choose to use the AI-assisted meal estimation feature, the meal description text you enter (for example, "scrambled eggs and toast") is transmitted to OpenAI's API for processing. OpenAI returns estimated macronutrient values, which the app then displays in editable form before you save the meal.
What is sent:
What is NOT sent:
OpenAI's handling of this data is governed by their privacy policy, available at https://openai.com/policies/privacy-policy. According to OpenAI's API terms, data submitted via the API is not used to train their models by default.
You can avoid this data transmission entirely by entering meal macronutrients manually, which the app fully supports.
The app does not use third-party analytics services. We do not track your usage patterns, your location, or your behavior across other apps or websites. We do not use advertising identifiers, and we do not display advertisements.
We do not sell, rent, or share your personal information with third parties for marketing purposes. The only third party involved in the app's operation is OpenAI, and only when you choose to use the AI meal parsing feature, as described above.
Because the app stores data locally on your device, your data persists as long as the app is installed. You can delete all your data at any time through the in-app account deletion feature, accessible from Settings. You can also remove the app entirely, which deletes all associated local data.
Calorie Counter Fitness is intended for use by adults aged 18 and older. We do not knowingly collect data from children. If you believe a child has provided information through the app, please contact us so we can address the situation.
The app provides educational estimates of metabolic state based on a physiological model. It is not a medical device, does not diagnose any condition, and is not a substitute for professional medical advice. Estimates shown in the app are approximate and may not reflect your actual physiological state. Please consult a qualified healthcare provider for medical guidance.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page reflects the most recent revision. Continued use of the app after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
If you have questions about this Privacy Policy or about how the app handles your information, please contact us at support@francisclarke.com.
